Job Opening: Litigation Associate
Chicago Loop plaintiffs’ class–action firm has an immediate opening for a junior litigation associate.
Applicants should have a strong academic background and excellent legal research and writing skills. Responsibilities will include: investigating the merits of potential new cases; drafting complaints; managing discovery, including drafting discovery requests and responses, preparing discovery-related motions, and analyzing productions; drafting motions for class certification and briefs in opposition to dispositive motions; assisting in the preparation for, and conduct of, lay and expert depositions; providing oral and written analysis of legal issues; and appearing in court as needed.
The right candidate will be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, energetic, dependable, and ready to contribute to our team. The ideal candidate will also be able to work independently, with the goal of managing the day-to-day responsibilities for the cases to which he or she is assigned. A judicial clerkship is preferred, as is class action or other complex litigation experience. Experience in any of the following practice areas will be considered a plus: antitrust, securities and corporate governance, healthcare litigation, consumer protection, false claims litigation, and multidistrict litigation.
Candidates should submit two writing samples as to which they had primary responsibility with respect to style and content. Each writing sample should be accompanied by a one-paragraph summary stating the circumstances under which the sample was drafted and what the sample conveys about the candidate as a writer.
