WW Appointed Co-Lead Counsel in Pet Food Products Liability Litigation
On December 19, 2007, Wexler Wallace LLP was appointed co-lead counsel in In re: Pet Food Products Liability Litigation, MDL Docket No. 1850, Civil Action No. 07-2867 (D.N.J.), a consolidated proceeding involving over 100 class action suits, pending before the Honorable Noel L. Hillman in the District of New Jersey.
WW filed the first California action, and some of the first actions in other states, alleging that Menu Foods, along with other manufacturers, suppliers and retailers, were responsible for manufacturing and distributing contaminated pet food, the consumption of which led to the illness and death of numerous pet dogs and cats. The consolidated suit arises from the largest pet food recall in U.S. history, consisting of approximately 60 million containers and close to 100 different brands, including such brands as Iams, Eukanuba and Science Diet.
