Our Firm > Insider Exclusive TV Show
Wexler Wallace has been featured in three segments of the popular television show The Insider Exclusive. Filmed in our Chicago office, the features focused on Wexler Wallace’s work in three healthcare fraud cases – the case against Bausch & Lomb involving product defects causing significant eye damages; the Average Wholesale Price litigation against major pharmaceutical companies, and a case against Menu Foods for pet food contamination. You can watch the segments below.America's Healthcare Fraud Series - Drug Makers’ Illegal Schemes
In this documentary, Ken Wexler discussed the schemes of major pharmaceutical companies -- AstraZeneca, TAP Pharmaceuticals, Bristol-Myers Squibb and GlaxoSmithKline -- who unethically and unscrupulously took advantage of the flawed healthcare system to harm consumers, the government, insurers and patients by using artifice and schemes to wrongfully inflate the costs of pharmaceuticals, including critically important, often life–sustaining drugs. Joining Ken to discuss these abuses were Dan Ryan, a fund administrator for the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and Employees Midwest Health and Pension Fund (UFCW); and Cheryl Barecca, Anna Choice and Tracy Garcia – all cancer survivors and UFCW members.
Dangerous Health Fraud in Corporate America Series - Bausch & Lomb
In this film, Wexler Wallace partners Ken Wexler and Ed Wallace, along with Wexler Wallace nurse consultant Debra Pritts, discussed the case they pursued against Bausch & Lomb on behalf of consumers, such as Elizabeth Poole, who suffered serious eye injuries from using ReNu with MoistureLoc contact lens solution. In the summer of 2005, Bausch & Lomb learned of serious eye infections caused by ReNu with MoistureLoc. Six months later the company initiated recalls, but only in Hong Kong and Malaysia. It continued to sell the product in the U.S. until April 2006, with thousands of people suffering injuries. Evidence later showed that Bausch & Lomb cut corners in the design and testing of ReNu; lied to the FDA to gain regulatory approval; switched the formulation of ReNu to get it to market more quickly; and hid its February 2006 recall in Asia from U.S. regulatory agencies. Elizabeth Poole, who also appeared in the documentary, underwent painful and extensive surgeries and treatments as a result of using Bausch & Lomb’s product, and eventually lost her eye.
Deadly Health Fraud Case Series - The Largest Pet Food Recall in U.S. History
Ken Wexler and Ed Wallace were featured in this documentary about the recall of 60 million containers of 180 different brands of pet food and treats, due to intentional contamination of wheat gluten and rice protein imported from China. This was the largest recall of pet food in U.S. history and was initiated by the dominant manufacturer of dry dog and cat food, the Canadian Company, Menu Foods. The contamination resulted in the deaths of untold numbers of animals and put at risk more than 100 million pets in America's households. In the documentary, Wexler and Wallace discuss the story of the historic $24 Million dollar settlement for 23,000 claimants. Pet owner Tracy Schlutter, who lost his family’s pet and friend as a result of the contaminated pet food also appeared in the film.
